Educational Technology at Learning Together

The next phase of Friday afternoon Learning Together will be about how we could use educational technology at Mildmay Community Centre.

What does that mean? Here’s an instant definition from Wikipedia

Educational technology (commonly abbreviated as edutech, or edtech) is the combined use of computer hardware, software, and educational theory and practice to facilitate learning.

We can’t do all of that, but we can get started. For example – for small groups, a portable interactive whiteboard would be really useful as a superior replacement for the large dropdown screen. Of course, we would need a place to keep it – so we will talk to Mildmay Community Centre management about that.

Software does not require cupboard space – and there is a dazzlingly diverse range of software resources that we could investigate.

Although the Learning Together EdTech phase has begun, we are not yet ready to recruit a new group of learners. The next three Fridays afternoons (9, 16 and 23 February) will be open to anyone who wants to come in and do something digital. It could be a one-off workshop that we will announce by email and WhatsApp – or you could drop in to do your own thing.
